Why do people choose one product over another? There are layers of reasons influenced by things like culture, fashion, trends, economic status, lifestyle, functionality, and emotion. The products that they surround themselves with tell a story about them; they are part of their lifestyle. At KEYDESIGN, we strive to understand people and discover their real needs and desires so that we can create products they will want.
Design improves life.
By studying consumers and discovering their real needs, we think outside the expected parameters, asking “How can we best address this need?” We don’t just re-design, we actually re-think. This is how we discover breakthrough ideas – the meaningful innovations that truly answer the real needs and improve people’s lives.
Design brings beauty and harmony to our lives.
What is beauty? Is it “in the eye of the beholder” or can it be universally defined? We believe both. What one finds beautiful is very individual; But that individual choice is very much influenced by one’s surroundings, by nature, culture, fashion, etc. And then, there are objects that seem to posses timeless beauty. We can see it in nature (animals, plants, humans and even snowflakes) and in some architecture and products. Although we may not understand why we are attracted to some objects, or be able to say why something has a "better design" than something else, there are design principles that can stimulate our subconscious awareness. From the classical proportions of the golden rule and the Fibonacci series to the interrelationships of form and line, a product that is visually well balanced according to these principles will be accepted as beautiful by the majority of people.
Designing beyond function.
The Bauhaus design adage “form follows function” still rings true in part, but function is only the baseline expectation these days. Today, products need differentiation beyond the functional performance metrics if they are to win in the marketplace. They need to compete in other areas, such as experience, individualization, lifestyle, and beauty. At KEYDESIGN we seek to create emotionally desirable objects that will bring success in the marketplace.
Inspiration
Nature is a source of profound inspiration for us, and we look even beyond nature to the One who created it. God is the Creator, the Designer, the Author of all things. His understanding of the human heart is absolute. All that is "good" and "perfect" comes from Him. His art is pure, clean, and complete. He is a master of color, form, texture, detail, sound, feeling, emotion, and "spirit." With this inspiration, we seek to create design that reflects His glory. We also believe that in business as in life, we must hold to values of integrity, honesty, and excellence. Our goal is to help the world become a better place, one design at a time.
